The Need for Transportation
One of the biggest challenges in providing services to youth is getting them there. This is especially frustrating when providing equine assisted services which take place in barns or facilities which are often found out in rural settings. Since Rusty Halo serves vulnerable youth, there is even more of a challenge in getting them to these barns for the different equine activities we offer. Currently, our Executive Director is doing the heavy lifting, or maybe “Lyfting”, as she is transporting all our youth weekly to the programming, as well as providing the different equine assisted activities. As can be imagined, this will end up limiting the amount of services we can offer youth in need of the fabulous healing of horses and the activities the barn setting can offer. Rusty Halo is committed to continuing to find ways to provide transportation to services as we have witnessed the positive impact horses and a barn environment have for youth who are existing in what can often be a chaotic environment. The barn and horses bring a calm setting that allows youth to do the work they feel they need to do, or simply have a moment in their week to allow their guard to take a break from protecting their often elevated nervous system.
Rusty Halo is always in need of drivers and vehicles to assist with the most important part of our organization, getting the youth to the barns! If you can help with providing or donating a vehicle that seats at least 7 and can pull a horse trailer, please email us at info@rustyahalofoundation.org. We also need qualified volunteers for transport as well. We would love to hear from you! Follow us on Instagram or Facebook to see how you can be a part of the amazing work we are doing - bringing the healing power of horses and the calming environment of barn life to communities of vulnerable youth.
Thanks for reading from all of us at Rusty Halo.
